MAGIC Defeat RIPTIDE 104-93

(Moncton, New Brunswick: December 8, 2017)

The Moncton Magic hosted the Saint John Riptide Friday night at the Coliseum, ending with Moncton taking the win 104-93.

This New Brunswick showdown has been eagerly awaited; both teams have had huge wins since pre-season game that ended in Moncton's favor.

The Magic struggled initially, ending the 1st quarter down 20-30, but were able to rally defensively and hold the Riptide off long enough to gain an offensive rhythm. At their lowest Moncton was down 21 points, their highest, up 15.

At the beginning of the 2nd the Magic were able to flip their tempo and halt the Riptide's run, elevated by a couple massive dunks by Jeremy Williams and a few of Al Stewart's quick-cut layups.

The 3rd quarter was a perfect example of this teams defensive dominance. At the 32 minute buzzer Saint John had astonishingly been held to just 10 points.

Anthony Anderson, who struggled along with the team in the first quarter, ended up as the game high scorer sinking 23 points including 6 made free throws.

Al Stewart drove the offensive side with a 10 assist double-double, while Jeremy Williams and Terry Thomas supported putting up 22 and 21 points respectively.

Denzell Taylor was named player of the game for his presence in the paint, he finished with 14 rebounds and 5 points.

The Magic play Saturday, December 9th at 7:00pm against the Island Storm, after which they will go on a four game road trip.
