Magic battle to a solid win over the Hurricanes

Hot off a huge win over the Charlottetown Island Storm, the Moncton Magic hosted the #1 Atlantic ranked Halifax Hurricanes Saturday night at the Coliseum.

The Moncton team was able to keep up their energy and quick play, harnessing some of the crowds' as well while beating the visiting team 109-99, besting them in every stat category. The Magic came out strong, and after trailing for a short time in the 2nd were able to dominate for most of the game, picking up missed plays, making tough shots, and forcing a huge number of errors.

Corey Allmond, who has remained hot since the road trip, lead the Magic with 22 points, primarily from his six 3's which had the entire coliseum off their feet.

Denzell Taylor was named player of the game Saturday for making waves in the paint all night, banking a 14-rebound 15-point double-double.

Anthony Anderson filled in and recovered missed plays as per always, finishing with 16 points; Terry Thomas had 14 of his own plus 9 rebounds.

Antoine Mason, who scored 13 of the 'Canes' first 16, ended with an impressive 26 total. Billy White had a 13-point 11-rebound double-double for the Visiting Hurricanes.

The Magic will now head to Newfoundland to play the St Johns Edge in back to back games February 2nd and 3rd before returning home to play the Cape Breton Highlanders, Saturday the 10th at the Coliseum.
