Riptide edge out the Magic to force Game 4

Final April 12

(Saint John, NB: April 12th, 2018)

Playoff Round One- Moncton (2) vs. Saint John (3)

The Moncton Magic traveled to Saint John Thursday night for the third game of the first round. The earlier two were close but went to the Magic, giving them an advantage, and providing some momentum.

However, despite superior shooting in all three categories (Field Goal, Free Throw, 3-point), the Magic couldn't quite get the number of opportunities they needed. Moncton came out on top in the 1st and 4th quarters but couldn't make up for a mid-game deficit and fell 82-88 to the home team.

Although they couldn't keep up entirely, the visiting Magic showed strength, especially through forward Juan Pattillo who pulled down 9 rebounds, grabbed 2 steals, and dropped 25 points Thursday night. Pattillo was later named Player of the Game, his second for the playoffs.

Corey Allmond and Terry Thomas created what they could in Saint John's end, hitting around 50%, and scoring 18 and 16 points of their own respectively. Anthony Anderson was scoreless for the night but sat at the helm of the offense for 11 assists.

As predicted Malcolm Miller and Aly Ahmed put up the competing numbers for the Riptide; they had 26 and 19 respectively for the home team, with 6 boards each.

The Magic will stay in Saint John for another chance to close out the first round, Saturday 7:00pm at Harbor Station. If a fifth game is required it will take place Monday April 16th at the Moncton Coliseum.
