(Friday, October 11, 2019 – Moncton, NB.) The NBL Canada defending Champions continue to add depth and talent to their training camp roster. The team announced today the addition of another big man with the signing of Mike Parks Jr.
Parks, who is originally from Cleveland, Ohio recently finished his collegiate career at the University of Memphis this past fall. The 6’9”, 260 lb Centre was a two-year starter for the Tigers, a member of the American Athletic Conference, a basketball powerhouse in the NCAA Division 1. He finished his time at Memphis with career averages of 7 points and 3.8 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game.
Head Coach and GM of Player Operations Joe Salerno is high on Parks, believing he can bring another true inside presence to the paint for the Magic.
“Mike is a big guy, who doesn’t mind playing big” commented Salerno. “He has a nice skill set, and plays with a lot of energy and physicality, something I feel we could improve on from last years team.”
Parks, who will be entering his rookie season at the pro level says he looks forward to the level of competition he feels the NBL Canada brings.
“I’m excited about signing with the Magic. This is a good league, with good competition every night. I’m ready to show what I’ve got at this level, and give the crowd a great show” stated Parks.
Salerno feels Parks could be one of the final pieces to an already stout front court in the Magic’s training camp which opens next month at Crandall University. Parks will join the likes of returnees such as Billy White, Denzell Taylor and Brad States, along with NBL veteran Dominic Shuler, and recently signed 7’0 Centre Ronald Delph.
