(London, Ontario: January 13, 2018)
The league leading London Lightning hosted the Moncton Magic Saturday night in what was coined the 'Alliteration Bowl', for the second of their five game road trip.
Both teams entered on a streak but the Lightning left with the win taking it by just one point 147-146 after two extra five-minute overtimes.
The additional play was a great representation of how close these teams matched up. While London came out strong in the 1st Moncton hit back hard and outscored the home team in the remaining three quarters before OT was required.
Tirrell Baines was named player of the game for his aggressive rebounding and over 60% shooting which allowed him to deliver 21 points and 14 rebounds along with six assists. At the end of this incredibly high scoring matchup Moncton saw two more double-doubles- Terry Thomas: 31 points & 12 rebounds, Anthony Anderson: 15 points, 10 assists.
Brent Jennings has continued to be effective for the Magic, tonight he made 19 points before fouling out, three of which were the clutch last-second free throws that brought us to the second overtime.
Another determinant in the Magic's extended success was 3-point shooting, led by new acquisition Jason Calliste, who knocked down eight, netting him 26 total points.
Royce White had an astonishingly impressive game for London leaving with 46 total points and 14 rebounds, followed by Ryan Anderson who had 27 and 11 before fouling out.
The Magic faceoff against the Niagara River Lions Sunday the 14th at 3:00pm AST as part of the three remaining away games they'll play before January 24th when they return home to play the Charlottetown Island Storm.
